We are a 19 bedded mixed acute ward situated closely to London and Brighton and benefits from a thriving, vibrant and diverse community. Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced mental health nurseÌý who is caring, compassionate and committed to lead on providing excellent care for adults and their families.
The post-holder will be responsibleÌý for the leadership on Coral Ward, in particular that of Nursing staff, but also will contribute to the effective working of the Multi-Disciplinary team; the post-holder will also be a member of the hospital leadership team.
This is a varied, dynamic role that would suit a forward thinking, energetic, creative practitioner with a passion for strong clinical leadership and governance.
To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator, a credible and motivational role model for nurses and keen to work in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Acute services are fast paced and the Ward Manager will frequently be confronted with competing challenges and demands. You will need to have a 'can do' attitude and be solution focused. You will need to be extremely well organised, hardworking, and to be able to confidently demonstrate your ability to manage crisis situations and to work effectively in a team. Ìý

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of health professionals providing care over a 24-hour period including responsibility for assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the patients within their sphere of responsibility.
- To ensure that the team functions in line with the care group core business.
- To provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team, in the achievement of the Trust’s objectives and priorities.Ìý The Trust’s success will be dependant on all managers playing an active role to make sure the existing areas of good employment practice are universally embedded within the organisation.Ìý
- To deliver a service within the agreed budgets and resources ensuring maximum value in terms of clinical and cost effectiveness.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree/ diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
- Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role
- Evidence of CPD
- Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
- Post Basic Courses / relevant Study Days
Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of acute care in the care group and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice
- Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
- Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance
- Relevant care group experience of working with people with serious mental health problems
- Experience of managing staff
- CPA experience
