An exciting opportunity has risen within the Langley Green Hospital on Coral Ward. We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated, and inspiring Band 5 Staff Nurse / preceptorship Nurse to join our team on Coral Ward. Someone who has a passion for exceptionally high standards of patient care, who is enthusiastic, innovative and wants to work in a service that is committed to providing individualized evidenced based care.
We are a 19 bedded ward based in Langley Green Hospital in Crawley. Crawley is situated closely to London and Brighton and benefits from a thriving, vibrant and diverse community. Coral Ward has an experienced team and works collaboratively with other wards and services within the hospital and the wider community.

Main duties of the job
As a staff nurse / preceptorship nurse, your responsibilities willÌýbe to;
- Uphold our core values of promoting openness, transparency and learning;
- Effectively running the shift and attending regular meetings to review and monitor patients' care plans;
- Building relationships with patients to encourage trust, while listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns;
- Ensuring the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitoring side effects;
- Accurately recording patient information and communicating with other MDT staff regarding patient care needs.
- Offer support and supervise the practice of junior staff and student Nurses in order to ensure safe and effective nursing practice within a secure environment.
- Performing administrative duties. Involved in the screening, assessment and follow up support of patients.
- Provide care and support to patients and families and work effectively as part of the wider Multidisciplinary team.
Work a flexible shift pattern which includes Long Days (07:00 – 19:30) and Nights (19:00 – 07:30) including weekends and bank holidays.

All your skills and training will be fully utilised and developed through clinical supervision and training opportunities including a preceptorship academy for newly qualified nurses and modules offered by the University of Surrey and University of Brighton as well as Trust essential training and an Emerging Leadership Course. We offer a two week induction which gives you the opportunity to shadow your colleagues across the unit.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role
Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of MHA (1983/2007).
- Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (2005), to include practical knowledge of FACE documentation, DOLS and Best Interest decisions
- Child and Adult safe guarding procedures.
- Change management, organising and prioritising workloads
- Demonstrate ability to enhance care through evidence based knowledge
- Demonstrate professional development relevant to the care group
- Demonstrates ability to assess and manage clinical risk

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
