Sussex CAMHS (Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) are looking to recruit a dynamic, experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist into an exciting opportunity within the Sussex wide CHYPS Home Treatment Team.Ìý The focus of this role is to work within a service providing evidence-based assessment and intervention for young people needing additional support within the community. The CHYPS Home Treatment Team is Sussex wide and it will soon become part of the Hospital at Home Service, able to provide an alternative pathway to hospital admission.Ìý

Main duties of the job

The CHYPS Home Treatment Team is a friendly, innovative and exciting team working with high levels of demand and complexity.

Ìý

Your main duties will involve:

Ìý

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Offering evidence based occupational functional assessment of a young person's mental health needs, to inform a shared formulation around the young person's presenting difficulties and needs to recommend suitable therapeutic intervention.

Ìý

-Assessment and management of risk in the community alongside local community CHYPS teams.

Ìý

-Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýManaging & working with a small caseload of young people with mental health difficulties within the multi-disciplinary team.

Ìý

-Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýSupporting the professional development of Occupational Therapy within the service and supporting colleagues within the wider Sussex CAMHS services.

To manage a caseload of clients.
ï‚· To provide specialist clinical advice and input for clients with complex problems and needs.
ï‚· To ensure occupational therapy contribution to the provision of quality clinical care and performance standards.
ï‚· To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy and local multi-professional services.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate level study/training
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist
  • Management/Leadership training
  • Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Experience as a Care Coordinator
  • Experience in a clinical area related to the post
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in applying a range of assessment tools and a comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy clinical approaches used in mental health
