Job overview

You will be responsible for the transportation of equipment, materials, furniture, trolleys, linen, pathology samples across many NHS locations.Ìý You must be able to communicate effectively with internal & external customers and work colleagues throughout the process of delivery of the service, ensuring Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is able to deliver the right care for patients.

This is a physically demanding role and involves lifting, pulling and pushing.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, have a clean driving license and have experience in a similar kind of role.

AGH Solutions Transport & Logistics Department is committed to providing a high-quality standard of service to all its customers.Ìý

Transport & Logistics drivers undertake the transportation of various items (sterile services equipment, Linen, pathology samples, medication, records etc) to and from external community sites and the premises of other external customers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To carry out vehicle checks at the start of every shift, reporting any vehicle defects to a member of the 'Transport & Logistics' management team.

To ensure each vehicle is washed inside and out at least once per week.Ìý To make sure the vehicle is kept in clean and tidy state.

To ensure they follow the delivery route schedule unless they have been diverted by road closures etc. or being directed to do so by a member of the management team.

To wear the correct provide PPE and staff uniforms provided.

To ensure that at all times when leaving their vehicles it is fully secured (locking every door and window). The keys to remain with the driver at all times whilst at.Ìý The vehicle should never be left unattended when loading or unloading.

To ensure the vehicle doesn't run out of fuel by refuelling/recharging the vehicles as and when required.

To ensure the vehicles are securely loaded; to avoid damage on route. Vehicles should be loaded in route order.

To assist in the on-the-job training of new members of staff.

To ensure that all infection control procedures and related policies are strictly observed at all times.

To carry out all duties as instructed in line with the requirements of the AGH Solutions and customer operational procedures in order to provide a quality service and to fulfil the customers’ requirements.

Ensure that they check all packages before delivery if they find any damage to the packaging they should report it to theÌý department it is been picked up from, or the relevant manager.

In the eventÌý of a vehicle breakdown; contact the breakdown service on the number provided, notify the relevant member of the 'Transport & Logistics' management team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Clean driving licence, with no pending penalties
  • Must have a good standard of written and verbal communication

Experience required

Essential criteria
  • 2 years driving experience in delivery vehicles up to and including 3.5 tons
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of people
  • Experience of working within a team but also able to work on own initiative

Skills
