We are looking to recruit a Pharmacy Technician and Support Staff Lead to work in our innovativeÌýNorth East and Yorkshire School of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation.

The purpose of the Lead for Pharmacy Technician Training is to oversee and lead work on the development and delivery of workstreams specifically for the pharmacy technician and support staff workforce.Ìý

ÌýThis work is underpinned by the need for a flexible, productive and affordable healthcare workforce that meets the needs of patients, reflecting evolving care pathways and the values set out in the NHS Constitution.Ìý

ÌýThe post holder will coordinate a range of projects, from proof-of-concept work to integrating emerging workstreams with established programmes.

The postholder will be working as part of the North East and Yorkshire Regional Pharmacy team but will be expected to work with NHSE’s National Pharmacy team and other relevant stakeholders across the system.Ìý

Achieving this will include:Ìý

  • Engaging with senior stakeholders, developing and maintaining relationships with a range of key stakeholders (internal and external) across all programme areas, identifying areas of interdependency and forging links as appropriate e.g. employers and professional organisations.Ìý

  • Working in partnership for multi-organisation ownership and accountabilityÌý

  • Managing projects at a regional levelÌý

  • Deputising in senior stakeholder meetings, briefings, conferences, workshops and other forums as appropriateÌýÌýÌý

  • Running consultations and task and finish groups to understand system requirementsÌýÌý

  • Budget managementÌýÌý

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The successful applicant will be expected to travel across NEY region for regular meetings and events but will be based at a regional office of their choice.ÌýÌý

Qualifications

  • Educated to master’s level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
  • Registered with the GPhC.

Knowledge and experience

  • Experience of delivering and sustaining complex change with significant experience of managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of existing pre-registration and post-registration pharmacy technician training pathways.
  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring and reporting on performance drawing on complex information from a variety of sources.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting with experience of leading teams and influencing in the absence of a formal hierarchy.

  • Understanding of the background and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciation of the implications of this in relation to workforce integration with a clear understanding of the UK healthcare education and training system and of the legislative and administrative issues around education and training of the healthcare workforce.
