Job overview
Pharmacy Technician who is currently registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), prison pharmacy experience would be beneficial but not essential.
Main duties of the job
JOB PURPOSE:
The post holder will, under the guidance of the Specialist Prison Pharmacist at theÂ
prison they are working in, assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and costÂ
effective pharmaceutical service to prisoners (hereafter known as service users)
within the prison they are working in over a 7 day shift working pattern inclusive ofÂ
Public Holidays. This role will also involve providing medicines optimisation,Â
medicines supply and administration, general health education advice and specialistÂ
technical services to the service users and healthcare staff.Â

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
JOB DIMENSIONS:
To dispense, supply or administer medication including controlled drugs.
Support the delivery of medicines management services, primary care, healthÂ
promotion and education
Person specification
Registered with GPhC as pharmacy technician
Essential criteria
- Registered with GPhC
Desirable criteria
- Experience in working in prison settings
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
