We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Wessex Rehab Team team at Salisbury Hospital, for a Band 6 role in the Lower Limb and Pain rehabilitation services
To work as a Specialist Occupational Therapy practitioner in the integrated complex lower limb trauma and chronic pain multi-disciplinary service at Salisbury District Hospital, within a specialist outpatient rehabilitation setting.听
Main duties of the job
To work as an autonomous practitioner under the guidance of Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists听
鈥 听 听To deliver an effective, intensive and efficient specialist rehabilitation service to patients with a range of musculoskeletal trauma and chronic pain presentations. To work collaboratively with colleagues within the therapy team to provide timely and proactive occupational therapy intervention throughout a patient鈥檚 treatment pathway.听
鈥 听 听To participate in assessment, treatment-planning and intervention for patients with complex trauma and chronic pain, adding Occupational Therapy insight to the management plan.听
鈥 听 听To deliver one to one and group-based therapy to patients following complex trauma or lower limb injury
鈥 听 听To deliver one to one and group-based education and therapy to patients with persistent pain; with the goal of fostering management approaches in this group.
鈥 听 听To tailor occupational based interventions to maximise independence and quality of life within activities of daily living.
鈥 听 听To support the Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to deliver vocational rehabilitation, consisting of specialist assessment and treatment to support patients to return to work.
鈥 听 听To utilise appropriate outcome measures and participate in clinical governance activities

Education
Essential criteria
- HCPC registration
- BSC degree in occupational therapy or equivalent
- Evidence of CPD in the last 2 years
Desirable criteria
- Post-Graduate education / courses in MSK medicine & Chronic Pain
Experience
Essential criteria
- minimum of 2 different clinical areas as a qualified OT
- Experience of prioritising patients and managing a busy caseload in an NHS environment
- Experience of working with patients with Chronic Pain presentations
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing patients with complex physical health needs
- Experience of working with patients in mental health
